How could this have happened?

How sad would this be that no one would notice you're missing for three years!

"A woman's skeleton was discovered in her flat three years after she is believed to have died, it emerged today. Joyce Vincent was surrounded by Christmas presents and the television and heating in her bedsit were still on."

Oh my gosh! How is that possible? You would think that the article would indicate that she had no family alive, but the contrary is true. If I hadn't heard from my sister in three years I would definitely be worried and would have broken the door down myself, much closer to the three week point as opposed to three YEARS. How very very sad. :(

That's just downright heartbreaking.

Ok, that sounds very fishy. I mean seriously... was her family paying the heating bills? If she's dead who's paying the bills? No payment, no heat. No heat, no TV, no heating.

Yeah skeptical, I wondered that too.

Actually, the article states that it was housing association officials that discovered her. Apparently they broke down her door because she wasn't paying bills and they were hoping to collect the bills.

Oh come on! It took them 3 years? Things must be REALLY different in Europe. Here in the US if your more than a month overdue on your bills your services are shut off.

She was living in some government housing as a domestic violence refugee. The government was covering most of the rent. We all know how much the government really cares about people.
