Raspberry Picking

Such a GORGEOUS day to go berry picking yesterday! The best part was watching the kids just be kids and roam around, getting to eat and pick at their leisure. It was just like Blueberries for Sal--nearly all the berries out of the kids' buckets were eaten. So fun.

Expanding Culinary Horizons

"I have two teeth now."

"I'm really getting to be quite big and can do lots of new tricks."

"I think it's definitely time for me to grow up a little bit more and try this table food stuff."

"WHAT?! What is this amazing delicacy you call rice cereal?!!"

"More! I have to have this!!"

"You all have been seriously holding out on me!!"

"Mmmmmm. I'm already thinking about my next meal."

Sophia is the first baby where I think I waited too long to start her on solids. She got her first taste of rice cereal three days ago. Yesterday I actually gave her some Cheerios. She wolfed them down, one after another, and then started picking them up with her own pincer grasp, and getting them in her mouth about a third of the time. She was definitely ready for this!!

Soccer Girl

These were taken a few weeks ago at Meredith's first soccer game. So far she really enjoys it. And I enjoy it too!! I smile and laugh the entire game. It's so hysterical watching all these little kids play soccer!!

Wedding Smoothies

We went to a beautiful summer wedding recently. And they had the greatest idea--all you can drink smoothie and ice-blended-mocha bar! LOVED it.

Creek Stomping

Some good ol' fashioned creek stomping with our homeschool group. I have much to say about homeschooling and will say it in another post sometime soon! Right now we are thrilled to have found a great homeschool group to help us along in this new adventure.

Please note how the Third Born just goes along with everything and can fall asleep anywhere, any time. She catches those naps whenever she can!

Library Carnival

Meredith was thrilled to see her picture in the paper, after attending an End-of Summer carnival at our local library.

Pizzas on the Grill

Kevin's mom invited me to help her make pizzas on the grill on Friday night. It was AMAZING. Seriously one of the best meals I've ever had. The crust was indescribably delicious. Light, airy, flaky to a perfection. The pizzas melted in our mouths. The pictures don't do it justice. I tried to find the recipes online but they're not posted yet. They were from the current edition of Everyday Food magazine.

We made three kinds:

1) Grilled asparagus, with lemon zest, and rocotta cheese

2) Sausage with fresh mozzarella, fresh rosemary, olives, and carmelized onions

3) Traditional margherita with homemade marinara sauce, fresh mozarella, and fresh basil

This is definitely something I will do again. Although, I may not do it on the hottest day of the year (like Friday was)!

State Fair '10

Of course, we loved the state fair as always. Meredith told me, "Mom, it's so hot here!" I replied, "If it were cold, it wouldn't be the fair."

I loved Meredith's reaction to feeling the goat lick her hand after eating the food.

Here is Clara milking the pretend cow at the "Riley Farm."

Sophia, who has still not been officially introduced to solids ('cuz I'm too lazy to spoon feed her yet!), sure did enjoy sucking on a potato chip.

The rides are always the girls' favorite. Of course!

Sunday Pancakes

One of our favorite things is Sunday Brunch at Kevin's parents house! Here, even the girls get involved in the action, "helping" to make blueberry pancakes.

Me and My Girls

Here we are at the Indianapolis Arts Garden, our favorite place to meet Kevin downtown for lunch. I think our kids are going to have a lot of memories in that place over the years. We love meeting daddy for lunch!
