Oh, yeah ...

I almost forgot to tell you ... FORGET ABOUT WAR MOVIES! This past weekend we watched March of the Penguins and that about killed me!! I would never recommend that movie for children. It's so SAD. Unless you're up to watching innocent, helpless, cute little baby penguins lying dead, lifeless, frozen on the ice ... Or you're in the mood to see a large bird of prey snoop down and peck at these little helpless creatures, hoping to make one of them its next meal ... I would highly recommend that you avoid March of the Penguins at all costs!!! It was awful, awful, awful. I could hardly stand it!

But don't you think it was amazingly incredible to see God's creative hand and the crystal clear way that his creation cries out about their creator? Further, how can you NOT like Morgan Freeman narrate a film as well done as March of the Penguins, even while tears course your cheeks? We're created in God's image, they're not. Still, it is a tear jerker but you won't catch me complaining about my workload or the cold after watching that film.

I have to agree with J R Phillips on this one... I thought it was an incredible story of love and survival and definitely a testimony to our Creator. Sad, yes (especially after just having a baby :), but we loved the movie!!

I have to say it was a little funny (ok maybe not "fun-ny") to hear some parents come back to work and say, "Oh my! We took the kids to March of the Penguins thinking it was a children's film. Our children were so sad." Ok, so it wasn't funny... But I laughed to myself, maybe I'm just twisted.

Well, I'm glad for your review, Amy, because my neighbor and I had been thinking we'd get the movie for our kids. Possibly her daughter could handle a movie like that, but Addie would be traumatized. So we'll just skip that one, and stick to Blue's Clues and Magic School Bus.

There were the sad parts, it's true, but along w/ JRP & M&B, I was truly astonished by the film, and came away remembering all the amazing & cute things, not the death.
And yes, Sara - Do keep Addie away at all costs. She'd never recover - it's far worse than Ice Age :)

Just to follow-up, my review wasn't "complete" in that, yes, there were some really great things about M of the P. I would, actually, recommend for people to see it. Amazing story and scenery!

It's just that I've realized, more and more, that I have a low tolerance for watching innocent things being killed. :-P

But, alas, I'm sure I'll end up watching M of the P again someday because we now OWN it. Kevin got it as a gift in an office gift-exchange. Sigh.
