So, I've been researching interesting-looking Moroccan recipes - 'cuz Morocco is the country I'm leaning towards picking for our next International Food Club night. (I'm still not 100% sure, however.) Today I came across an official government website with 30 "authentic" Moroccan recipes. Here's an interesting one I'm thinking about serving to my guests.
M'chermal - translation: "Brains with Sauce"
I'm also looking into how much it would cost to hire a belly dancer for the night. (Just kidding ... kind of.)

OK, that looks and sounds absolutely disgusting. Surely there are some tastier Morrocan recipes. Maybe I'm just not adventuresome enough, but I never could learn to like liver, let alone brains. :-P
Amy,
Morrocan sounds like so much fun!(although brains... not so much). We have been doing the same thing, we have done Spanish, Indian & French so far. Let me know what you choose!
Blessings,
L
Okay, not so good looking! :) I think the texture of brain must be horrible! But Morrocan sounds fun...even the belly dancer. :)
Yeah, like the belly dancer idea - as much for something different and memorable as anything. Just make sure you find a good one - there was a, shall we say, extra-large one at a Greek place a few years ago that just made you want to look away...
I don't think it looks *that* bad, actually. . . kind of like an omelette. I do think the instructions are hilarious though -- and 500 tomatoes? Yikes! That has to be a typo.
Are you kidding??
Bring on the Belly Dancers!!!!
I laughed at the "One soup spoonfull" and the "one coffee spoonfull" directions. They must not have Tbl. and tsp. in Morocco.
I've heard brains taste like chicken, though I'm sure calf brains taste like veal or beef. ;)
You should totally serve that to your friends, and tell them afterwards what part of the animal they just ate. How often do you get a chance like this?? And the belly dancer thing: for the real deal, the emphasis is usually on "belly". Just get an instructional video from the library on the subject, and boogie down with your bad selves. That's what we did at a Girl Scout meeting when we were earning a dancing badge many moons ago....
