Expanding Culinary Horizons

"I have two teeth now."

"I'm really getting to be quite big and can do lots of new tricks."

"I think it's definitely time for me to grow up a little bit more and try this table food stuff."

"WHAT?! What is this amazing delicacy you call rice cereal?!!"

"More! I have to have this!!"

"You all have been seriously holding out on me!!"

"Mmmmmm. I'm already thinking about my next meal."

Sophia is the first baby where I think I waited too long to start her on solids. She got her first taste of rice cereal three days ago. Yesterday I actually gave her some Cheerios. She wolfed them down, one after another, and then started picking them up with her own pincer grasp, and getting them in her mouth about a third of the time. She was definitely ready for this!!

Lol. I think my kids are the only ones who hated rice cereal. I always got the "what in the world?" look from them. Way to go, Sophia! And I forsee me waiting a good long while to start solids with Finley... nursing is so much easier and can be combined with other tasks:-)

I had a similar experience with Sarah - I think we did rice cereal once and then went to table food and never did baby food at all. She didn't seem bothered and it certainly saved me a lot of work!
