I'm a Sucker for Fresh Bread

Kevin’s mom told me about this book last fall. I got it from the library and tried it. We loved it so much that Kevin bought it for me as a birthday present. The only problem with Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day is that we are now probably eating too much bread. Ha!! Someday soon I will try a whole wheat recipe that is in the book.

Basically, you make enough dough for four loaves of bread and keep it in the refrigerator. The book says that you can keep it for up to 14 days but I’ve found that mine only lasts about 8-10 days, before it starts taking on a fermented flavor. I usually make a round loaf but you can also make cinnamon rolls and it makes an awesome pizza crust. I love how easy it is to have fresh bread out of the oven for dinner. It’s waaaaaayyyyy easier than loading three kids in the car and driving to the local grocery store!!!

Megan, I've only made the basic recipe, but have made it several times, and used it in various ways. I would like to try the whole wheat and the one for Challah bread soon. Let me know what you try/like!

I don't have the book but I discovered their website a few months ago, which has the basic recipes (white and whole wheat) and the gluten-free loaf from the new book. I've been making both on a regular basis and I love the method, especially since I always have to make two kinds of bread, two kinds of pizza crust, etc.
